Compulsary

The word compulsory means to have to or to must. This word is used in the story because Pascal was forced to do detention at the church by giving Mass to the poor people. This connects to the moral because if Pascal voluntarily joined the Mass, then it would seem tat he cares for these homeless people in the beginning. But the writer decided to make Pascal be forced to do the Mass to make it look like he didn't like the poor people but warmed up to them later on, making readers feel that Pascal changed from ignorant and careless, to brave and careful. And the moral is just that. You originally think of something in one way but after you experienced it, you think of it in your own way (it might be the same as your original thought but chances are that it's different.
